A Happier You #8 – Ultimate Coffee Date/March 2016

Wow…these months speed by…I feel like I just met you for coffee and…boom…it’s March already!! Well…

If we were having coffee, I’d share with you that I was chosen to be part of the launch team for Shawn Stevenson’s new book, Sleep Smarter.  He is a health/fitness/wellness expert who has one of the best podcasts, The Model Health Show.  Listen to one episode and you will be hooked.  I am currently reading a pre-production copy of his book and it is awesome.  Give it a look!!


If we were having coffee, I’d share with you that I am doing a giveaway with Stephanie from Balance Now Zen and Pow.  I met Stephanie online in a Facebook blogging group when I asked for a guest blogger who would write about meditation.  She quickly wrote a wonderful post and then we decided to do a giveaway together because we have similar interests in fitness, meditation and essential oils.  That Spring Energizer giveaway will go live on Monday, March 7th:)


If we were having coffee, I’d share with you that I’m FINALLY going to an orthopedist about arthritis in my hip that has been REALLY bothering me for months.  I’ve had the arthritis for years, but it has been manageable.  Lately, it’s been excruciatingly painful so I’m going to get it checked out on Monday.  Meanwhile, I have been researching food/nutrients that help fight inflammation and I’ve found some great information.  I’ve been drinking ginger tea and trying to eat foods that will decrease the inflammation.  I’ve also been foam rolling and using a heating pad.  I don’t want to resort to medication or pain relievers…I want to do it as naturally as possible.


If we were having coffee, I’d share with you that my dog turned 9 on March 1st and we had a little party for him!!!  He’s my big fur baby:)

  • Aw, happy birthday to your dog! Mine is 8. Facebook reminded me of the day we adopted her (when she was 4) and she looks so much older now! That book looks great. Luckily I haven’t had sleep issues lately, but I’ve struggled in the past.

    • Thanks to you too…I actually sleep pretty well and sleep 8+ hours a night, but it is a very interesting book and I LOVE sleep so it’s helpful to learn how to make it even better

  • These are great! I’m sorry to hear about your arthritis. I also have arthritis from my lupus, and I’ve found that the best remedy for inflamed joints is cutting back on gluten and dairy! Best of luck!

    • Good to know about the gluten and dairy…I’m going to try using Fish Oil also, which was mentioned on the Arthritis Foundation website

  • Great post! Ginger is a great natural inflammation reducer. I’m glad you’re seeing a doctor for your arthritis, but you should also check out Turmeric and Boswellia! They also help with pain relief and reduce inflammation.

    • Just went to orthopedist and he said that my hip bone is pushing through my pelvis so I’ve eventually going to need hip replacement surgery…yikes!!! I’m going to try to work on the inflammation in the meantime and hope that it keeps the problem to a minimum.
