I love to read. I read EVERY night before going to sleep. If I don’t read, I find it hard to unwind and go to sleep. I have been reading a lot of books on my Kindle that aren’t on any best seller lists and you probably haven’t heard of them. I have enjoyed them and love when others suggest good books so I want to pass on some suggestions of my own. I read my books on my Kindle Paperwhite (this is not an affiliate link…I just really love my Kindle) and I usually try to order books that are inexpensive. Amazon has great deals on pre-released books, monthly specials or you can join Kindle Unlimited. I joined Kindle Unlimited for one free month and one paid month, but this program doesn’t include all books on Amazon so in addition to the $9.99 a month, you may be paying extra for other books you want. It just wasn’t cost effective for me.
My blog includes fitness, nutrition, health and wellness so this post may seem a little misplaced. However, I feel that reading every day is part of my health and wellness because it helps me relax and is a true stress reliever for me. I get lost in these stories and it keeps my mind off the trials and tribulations of the day. Without further ado, here are my current book suggestions.
When Crickets Cry by Charles Martin is a great book about a heart surgeon who is hiding from a painful past when he meets a little girl who is in need of a heart transplant. It is a poignant story and which has flashbacks and a touching story line. It seemed to end abruptly, but I did enjoy it. It made me want to know more about what was to happen after it ended. Definitely a great read.
Play Dead, Stay Dead and Pretty Dead by Anne Frasier are a trilogy of books based in Savannah, Georgia. The main character is a police detective and who has connections to the voodoo history of the city. I LOVED this series, which made me want to read more books by this author. I love books set in the South and this series did not disappoint. If you like detective stories with a bit of historical fiction, you will love these books.
Sleep Tight by Anne Frasier is another police detective/suspense story, but very different from the Savannah based trilogy. This story takes place in Minnesota where a detective is sent to her home town to work on a series of murders. She is made to relive a traumatic event from her childhood, which has a direct connection to the current goings-on. Another great read.
